New South Wales, Australia, January 5, 2003 - Many thanks go to Garry, Graham, Don and David of Sydney for showing Perry such wonderful hospitality. These acts of kindness have lifted his spirits and physically done him a world of good. He is feeling strong and healthy during these final days of the Race Around Australia.
His last message reported that he was 700 km from Brisbane at 11 am on the 5th. This puts him at about Purfleet, 276 km north of Sydney. Winds have been all over, an occurrence he referred to as "weird." The traffic has been bad in this area because of the holiday, but he is feeling great and "rockin’ along."
Perry is riding this race in dedication to those who were affected by the terrorist bombing in Bali. "Bali crushed me. When there are people in the world that target a bunch of women and blokes just out for a beer and a good time, something has to be done. The first thing we need to do is to heal wounds, and that costs money and more. The Red Cross is accepting and managing donations for the support of the injured, their families, the fallen and their remaining loved ones. If everyone just donated the price of a drink, it would go a very long way to helping these people adjust." The Red Cross is accepting donations via the web.
